This morning a crew from Riverhead Ambulance was tasked with providing standby coverage for the 3rd annual Andrew’s Top Run. The run is in honor of a young man who was struck and killed by an intoxicated driver while hiking with his fellow Boy Scouts in 2018. On March 2nd members of the Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance Corps along with Riverhead Police officers were honored with Prehospital Save Awards. This is awarded to crews that are vital to a patients chain of survival when it comes to prehospital cardiac arrest. In order for a crew to receive this award their patient must survive discharge from the hospital neurologically intact.
